Microsoft Honolulu Project

Honolulu is a locally deployed, browser-based, management tool set that enables on-premises administration of Windows Servers with no Azure or cloud dependency. Honolulu gives IT Admins full control over all aspects of their Server infrastructure, and is particularly useful for management on private networks that are not connected to the Internet. The Honolulu app runs in a web browser. The app manages Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2012 nodes through the Honolulu gateway that you can install on Windows Server 2016 or Windows 10. The gateway manages servers via Remote PowerShell and WMI over WinRM.

Microsoft Windows SMB Response denial of service vulnerability

Microsoft Windows clients and servers contain a memory corruption bug in the handling of SMB traffic, which may allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial of service on a vulnerable system. Microsoft Windows fails to properly handle traffic from a malicious server. In particular, Windows fails to properly handle a specially-crafted server response that contains too many bytes following the structure defined in the SMB2 TREE_CONNECT Response structure. By connecting to a malicious SMB server, a vulnerable Windows client system may crash (BSOD) in mrxsmb20.sys. The crash could be confirmed with fully-patched Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 client systems, as well as the server equivalents of these platforms, Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Automatic Outlook configuration without any user prompt

When Outlook is started for the first time in an Active directory environment that has Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2016 servers implemented the autodiscover wizard, which is basically a Next and Next Finish operation, becomes unnecessary, because all the information to configure the outlook client is right there in the background of Active Directory. Therefore there is a possiblity to run the autodiscover wizard in the background without asking the user to click next next and finish to configure and create the outlook profile.

DAG Activation Preference Behavior Change in Exchange Server 2016 CU2

Every copy of a mailbox database in a DAG is assigned an activation preference number. This number is used by the system as part of the passive database activation process, and by administrators when performing database balancing operations for a DAG. This number is expressed as the ActivationPreference property of a mailbox database copy. Starting with CU2, the Primary Active Manager in the DAG performs periodic discretionary moves to activate the copy that the administrator has defined as most preferred is now built into the product. Remote PowerShell Proxying Behavior in Exchange 2013 CU12 and Exchange 2016

Prior to CU11, Exchange 2013 routed Remote PowerShell requests by finding a random mailbox that is either higher than the ExchClientVer that is specified in the URL, or if the ExchClientVer is not specified, by using the current CAS version in which the client connected. With CU11, Microsoft changed Remote PowerShell to route requests to an anchor mailbox. Typically, this anchor mailbox would be the mailbox of the user attempting the connection. In the event the user attempting the connection did not have a mailbox, the request would be routed to the organization arbitration mailbox.

Vulnerabilities in Exchange Server 2013 CU7 Could Allow Elevation of Privilege

This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 CU7. The most severe of the vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if a user clicks a specially crafted URL that takes them to a targeted Outlook Web App site. An attacker would have no way to force users to visit a specially crafted website. Instead, an attacker would have to convince them to visit the website, typically by getting them to click a link in an instant messenger or email message that takes them to the attacker's website, and then convince them to click the specially crafted URL.
